Gifts Your Male Significant Other Will Actually Like
As a Pisces with a gifting love language, Holidays are the most wonderful time of the year. But at the same time, giving the wrong gift can ruin the day for us. Imagine sitting across from your significant other and when they open your gift the look on their face is…less excited than what you expected.
Queue internal meltdown.
Alas, fear not, ladies and gays! For I have compiled a list of things the boys will actually be excited for. Some items perhaps not immediately, but they’ll think “oh this is actually really nice” when they use it.
1. For the Sports Man- Tickets to a game
Tickets to NBA games, football games, hockey, and soccer games are actually more affordable than you think! There are seats for almost every budget. And remember, your man is just happy to be there.
You have money money: Besides food, season tickets are the way to a man’s heart. Depending on the sport, team, and seats, season tickets will run you anywhere from $800-$10k+. It can also be a money maker if you buy the right tickets, sometimes you can resell enough single games to cover the price of your season tickets. It is a significant investment none the less, I recommend only giving this once there is a ring on your finger.
You got a good bonus this year: Game bundles directly from the team sales reps are anywhere from $700-$5000+. In prior years I have gifted my husband 5 game NBA tickets (2 seats per game) usually with at least 1 VIP game and other seats in the 100s section for ~$3000. With bundles you can set a budget and work with the rep to find the perfect mix of games. VIP tickets usually include food and non-alcoholic drinks which make for a nice pre-game activity, and if you’re nice enough sometimes your rep will throw in a free bonus game.
For more details visit your sport team’s official website and click on the Tickets tab, for seasonal tickets and game bundles you will need to fill out a contact form and a rep will reach out with more pricing info.
You have some extra pocket change: This year we are being more conscience with our spending but that doesn’t mean forgoing game tickets. Websites like GameTime and SeatGeek have great deals on resell tickets. This year I have been able to purchase Nets tickets in the 100s section for $109 each via GameTime.
You’re on a budget, no exceptions!: And of course, there are more affordable sections for $8-75 per ticket! The perfect way to get the stadium atmosphere while still being able to enjoy the game and a couple beers from the concessions.
2. For the Protein Bro- Gym Headphones
Finding the right gym headphones is like the story of Goldilocks and three little bears. This one might be a little bit of an investigative one, but with the right subtle line of questioning, you might be able to find the perfect pair for your gym loving boo. Look out for how big his ears are, what does he currently use for gym/home, is he a lifter or a runner?
From over the ears to in ear, here are some favorites of the internet:
Bonus- Silicone Earbud Hooks, $0.99, to keep in ear pods in place
3. For the Fancy Pants- A Peacoat
Peacoats literally elevate any outfit. Your man could be wearing joggers, jeans, sneakers, hoodie, but if they just throw on a nice wool overcoat- boom. He’s been visually upgraded. Men underestimate the confidence boost until they try one on for the first time and realize what they’ve been missing all these years. I personally love an All Saints peacoat. Of course, there are many brands for all budgets.
ALLSAINTS Alder Formal Overcoat, Bloomingdales $524.30
The Kooples Wool Coat, Bloomingdales $312.75
Calvin Klein Prosper Wool-Blend Slim Fit Overcoat, Macys $118.50
Bershka Long Wool Overcoat, ASOS $89.90
Michael Kors Luxury Wool Cashmere Blend Overcoat, Macys $169.99
Canali Kei Wool & Cashmere Top Coat, Bloomingdales $2295
4. For the Gamer Guy- Gaming Controller/ Accessories
If you have ever lived with a man who likes to game, you will know they go through controllers like candy. I cannot explain why but they just do. Take advantage of this and buy him a backup for the console of his choice. He may not need it immediately but trust me, he will get to it. Alternatively, extra controller batteries and a battery charger are a great way to ensure his character doesn’t die when his controller battery inevitably does. Bonus gift- get him a storage expansion card and really make him question where you learned about it…
5. For the Bougie One- A Little Designer Something Something
Some husbands are a little more bougier than others, who can blame them. Everyone loves something nice once in a while. Besides shopping retail, a good way to find some incredible gifts are consigners and resellers. ColaKicks has some of my favorite finds this week.
